Author: TE RINGA MANGUA MIHAKA; DIANE PATRICIA PRINCE Title: Whakapohane: The Crown Police State v Te Ringa Mangu alias Nathan Dun Mihaka & Diane Patricia Prince. I Na Tuohu Koe Me Mea Hei Maunga Tei Tei
Description: Porirua, Ruatara Publications. 1984, First Edition. Soft cover, 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Book, 207 pagesb/w photos, folding colour illustration at the back. Nice dedication by Dun Mihaka on the title page. Mihaka was involved in a number of campaigns regarding Maori rights, including the Bastion Point land dispute. His 1979 attempts to use the Maori language in court were appealed to the Court of Appeal and were the trigger for the 1986 Waitangi Tribunal ruling that the government should introduce legislation making it an official language of New Zealand. He is most known for performing an act of whakapohane (baring his buttocks, a traditional Maori insult) to Diana, Princess of Wales and Charles, Prince of Wales in 1983. Very Good. Signed by Authors.
