London, Chapman and Hall, MDCCCXLVII (1847). 'As an officer of high social rank, great courage, and excellent seamanship, Keppel was too excitable and hasty to be a successful admiral in peacetime. While his diminutive stature only encouraged him to try harder, his social standing made him question those placed in authority over him, most notably Sir Charles Napier in 1854' 'The first volume deals with Brooke's exploits in Borneo from 1838-1842, prior to his meeting with Keppel, particularly Brooke's attempts to open Borneo for foreign trade and pacify the local tribes. The second volume contains an account of the action against the pirates, and accounts of the geography of Borneo and the Dyaks, the aboriginal people of Borneo.' (Hill, Pacific Voyages 918).
