Description: 8vo; pp. vi, 169; stiff illustrated wrapper, a good copy. (Kew, Willry, 1990). Shorty O'Neil worked as a hardrock underground miner at Broken Hill for nearly 50 years. When he entered the mines in 1917, conditions were unspeakably bad and dangerous. When he finished his last shift in 1965, Broken Hill miners had long set a standard to which others aspired.
