Author travels by Elephant, boat, canoe [which he trades for an old dressing gown] and other means through storm and tempest while hunting and studying animals and natives. The ladies from on board gather shells from the Andaman Islands. Interesting insights into snake charming ways of measuring tigers and methods of hunting from Elephant, spearing from horse back, tree stand or with beaters also Indian Bison, Pig, Sambar, Ibex, snakes, bears, panthers hunting and more. A vain attempt to save a Widow placed on her husbands funeral pyre and the execution of mutineers by being tied across the muzzle of a 12 pound gun.
