BERGIN, TOM. - In The Steps Of Burke & Wills.

Title: In The Steps Of Burke & Wills.
Description: First Australian Edition; 8vo; pp. 139; 20 pages of colour plates, 6 maps, acknowledgments; dustjacket, very good copy. (Sydney, Australian Broadcasting Commission, 1981). In 1977 Tom Bergin, a Zoologist and Veterinary surgeon, re-traced the tracks of Burke and Wills. His primary object was to test his theory that the disaster of 1861 which included the deaths of the two leaders, resulted substantially from related errors in the timing of the expedition and the use of camels. His journey in the winter of 1977 was an attempt to demonstrate the correctness of his estimate.
