Description: First Microprint Edition; Super Royal 8vo; all volumes uniformly bound in green cloth, title labels on spine, titles lettered in gilt on labels, each volume with its original silk page marker, the set is housed in its original cloth slipcase, fine set. Gloucester; Alan Sutton; 1982. The Complete peerage was first published in eight volumes between 1887-98. This was effectively replaced by 'a new edition, revised and much enlarged' and edited between 1910 and 1959, appearing in twelve volumes with volume twelve being issued in two parts. Volume thirteen was issued in 1940, not as part of the alphabetical sequence, but as a supplement covering creations between 1907 and 1938. It is this 'new edition' which is here reprinted photographically in reduced format enabling the complete work to be published as a conveniently sized, six volume set.
