Provides many origins of names of cities within area also bushrangers, smuggling, early Baths, excellent plate of The Lady of St. Kilda, the old schoolroom from the first State School, Oakleigh Hall now possibly Caulfield Town Hall, St. Mary's Church, St. Kilda Junction about 1858, All Saint's Church, Kenny's Bathing Ship and Baths. Smugglers brought goods off ships and buried Brandy and goods on the beach. Volume 2 has b/w tipped in frontispiece that includes Cr. A Jacka Gallipolli Hero and Victoria Cross winner. Nice plates of Congregational Church, St. Kilda Rifle Corps, St. Kilda Railway Station 1862, St. Kilda Town Hall, New Town Hall with Portico, Railway viaduct over St. Kilda road in 1862, St. Kilda Beach and Esplanade 1862, view from the Royal St. Kilda Yacht Club House, Cenotaph, several plates of Royalty landing or landed at St. Kilda Pier.
