John Hubert Plunkett (1802-1869), lawyer and politician, best known for the prosecution of the colonists who brutally murdered 28 Aboriginals in the Myall Creek Massacre of 1838, seven of whom were convicted and hanged. Page 4 of this work states "The Aboriginal Natives of this Colony are as much under the protection of and amenable to the law as the rest of Her Majesty's subjects".
