Description: Limited Edition; Post 4to; pp. [ii],16, 25, 23, 26,25;marbled endpapers, bound in scarlet half-morocco by Bayntum Riviere of Bath, title label on spine, title lettered in gilt, tope edge gilt, Harry Chaplin's copy with his Lindsay bookplate on the front fixed endpaper, inscribed and signed by Meagher on the title page, tipped in is an a.l.s from Meagher to Chaplin, a copy of Chaplin's two page letter approaching Lindsay to illustrate the verses, and a typescript copy of Lindsay's letter declining, loosely inserted is a Christmas card from Meagher 1956 (printed and signed by Walter Stone), the book was later in the collection of Dr. Geoffrey Cains, then Charles Stitz. Also included is copy Charles Stitz article in the September 2020 issue of Biblionews titled "James Meagher and his Remarkable Translation of Ovid's Ars Amatoria" which discusses at length the history of this book and the various associated letters and cards.
