Description: Thirteenth Thousand, 3rd Edition; Cr. 8vo; pp. [xii], 122, (2);endpaper advertisements, index, tipped-in is a four page pamphlet titled " Nice Little Dinners", bound in original boards with cloth spine, laid down on front and rear boards are the original printed wrappers, wrappers worn but otherwise a good copy. Loosely inserted are three hand written recipes, and a later publication titled "Savories" by Isa Wylie. Melbourne; H. Hearne & Co.; 1894. Margaret J. Pearson was an Instructress at the Working Men's College, and Training Institute in Melbourne. The recipes in the book are from classes she gave at the 1888 Centennial Exhibition. According to a newspaper reports these classes attracted "maids and matrons of every degree in the social scale from the general servant who wishes to qualify for the more important office of cook, to the lady of culture who, for the moment, has 'taken up' cookery as her latest and most engrossing fad."
