Description: First English Edition; Thick Royal 4to; pp. xxii, 670; frontispiece portrait, twenty maps and eight coloured plates, appendix "Historical Notes on Messrs Henri and Louis de Freycinet", bound in original quarter vellum with olive green glazed boards, title lettered in gilt on spine, silk page marker, with its original plain dustjacket, a mint copy. Sydney; Hordern House; 2001. The original publication was limited to 300 copies and was out of print shortly after publication. This copy is one of twenty-eight specially numbered deluxe issues ( within the limitation of 300) on large paper bound in quarter vellum with glazed cloth boards. This copy being Number 1 of 28.
