Of interest is an Extraordinary Issue for Tuesday November 14, 1848, four pages devoted solely to "The Insurrection In Ireland" Battle of Boulagh Common. Sydney; The Sydney Morning Herald; 1848. The Sydney Morning Herald was founded in 1831 and is the oldest continuously published newspaper in Australia. It was initially published weekly and then in 1840 became a daily publication, the Englishman John Fairfax purchased the operation in 1841 and his family were to control the newspaper for almost 150 years.
