Description: Original bookplate ( 82x63 mm ), black ink, ( c-1990) In a letter from Jeff Bidgood (copy provided) he states "The artist for this bookplate was Angela lemaire who cut the original in wood. Unfortunately it would not print, other than by hand, and so has been reproduced in litho. My wife is very fond of roses and as my first name is Albert (Bert for short and are known as Betty and Bert within the family circle) we used the bees to symbolise Betty and Bert (B&B)." Jeff Bidgood is a prominent member of the Book Collectors' Society of Australia and a notable collector of bookplates. Angela Lemaire is an artist-printmaker, painter and writer, she studied for some time in Australia before returning to England.
