Hobart, Tasmania; The Author; 1908. Limited Edition of 150 copies numbered and with a signed presentation by the author. Charles Edward Walch (1830-1915), was bookseller and lay preacher in 1845 he was apprenticed for five years to Captain William Crosby in the barque Jane Francis, trading between Hobart and London. In 1852 he spent some time (unsuccessfully) on the Victorian gold diggings. He returned to Tasmania and took up a partnership in J. Walch and Son and became the buyer in London. Walch's Literary Intelligencer, first produced in 1859 was edited by him for many years, and Walch's Tasmanian Almanac became standard references. He payed an active part in the commercial, political, educational and religious affairs of the day in Tasmania.
