The Walla Walla pastoral station was first formed in 1839. The first selections by German-born farmers were taken out in 1869.The station was subdivided into agricultural holdings in 1908. Walla Walla became part of the Culcairn Shire Council in 1906. Today, Walla Walla has a population exceeding 600, a primary and secondary school, and a wide range of business houses, services, community and sporting organisations.
