A near fine copy in the original publisher's beige coloured boards with black stamping on the spine housed in the original unclipped dust jacket. Usual edge wear and some browning to the jacket and some wear on the back cover. Protected in mylar. On the front free endpaper is the stamp of the literary agent. Brian Aldiss, one of the key figures in science fiction, was represented by Scovil. He also represented Arthur C. Clarke, Normal Mailer and many others. The dust jacket features a striking and surreal design reflecting the psychedelic and fragmented nature of the novel in a post-apocalyptic Europe following a “catastrophe war” in which hallucinogenic chemicals have been used as weapons. Aldiss, was well known for his contributions to the "New Wave" movement in science fiction. .
