According to the bibliographer (Abbott A 10a 2a) this edition was, strictly speaking never actually published in the United States. A few review copies were sent out (Moore inscribed about 40 copies for presentation ) but the rest of the edition was impounded by customs officials and never issued. This copy is one of the few surviving review copies, sent to Macmillan of Canada for distribution with their review slip laid in. Also laid in is a clipping of Brian Moore's review of the book from his Montreal newspaper days. Bright and fresh in orange cloth, (light corner and edge wear), gilt titles in a lovely dust wrapper with a small stain on the back top. Slight offsetting to endpapers. Housed in protective mylar. A lovely copy in dust jacket. .
