Description: London: Printed by Taylor and Francis, 1862. 1st Printing. Green printed wrappers. Now housed in a clear archival mylar sleeve. pp 269 - 270. Illustrated with a drawing. 8vo. Age-toning, otherwise Very Good. Weber a noted 19th century physicist [magnetic unit named in his honor]; this his copy, with his bold signature written across the top of the front wrapper. Lassell a prominent English astronomer known for discovery of Triton (satellite of Netune), et al, and '.. ranks with Sir William Hershel and Lord Rosse among the perfecters of the reflecting telescope.' [DNB]. This the well-known Proceedings issue where he reports on a 'planetary nebula' [in Aquarius] he discovered using his recently -constructed 4-feet apeture reflecting telescope. He confesses to be 'greatly impressed by .. this most wonderous object, situated on what perhaps we may consider the very confines of the accessible or recognizable part of the universe..' Also present in this issue is an abstract on Nerves by Robert Lee, noted gynecologist and obstetrician.
