As is usual with this edition, an earlier owner has written the alphabetical contents in pen on the spine of each volume. Double column. A clean and tight set. "Containing an account of rare, curious, and useful books, published in or relating to Great Britain and Ireland, from the invention of printing; with bibliographical and critical notices, collations of the rarer articles, and the prices at which they have been sold." Including the Appendix volume dated 1864 by Bohn who performed the revision and enlargement of Lowndes' original. ".. Mr Lowndes spent the latter years of his life in my service as a Cataloguer, but his long course of Bibliographical drudgery had reduced him, both in body and mind, to a mere wreck of his former self..".
