In 1767 he first published this famous response to Voltaire's 'Dictionnaire philosophique' and to the works of the Encyclopédistes. While acknowledging Voltaire's talents as a writer, Chaudon fiercely repelled his attacks on religion. He prudently kept his anonymity to escape Voltaire's sarcasm.
