Included are accounts, as the title states, of usages by Native Americans, Quakers and Shakers, with general descriptions of the types of herbs that can be used to treat various afflictions. Anita Miller Smith was an American painter and herbalist, known both for her impressionistic landscapes of the Catskill Mountains, as well as her Stonecrop Gardens-a large herb based business that served clients throughout the country (Wikipedia).
