Volume II (parts I and II) is Dedicated to Angling; with an Account of Rivers in England, Scotland and Ireland. A handsome, wide-margined first edition of this sporting classic. Although this book is generally assumed to deal almost exclusively with hunting and shooting, and indeed is famous for its various portraits and descriptions of sporting dogs, over forty percent of it is actually devoted to angling, with 18 angling plates and extensive discussion of varieties of fish and where to take them, hooks and tackle, weather considerations, fish ponds, and other relevant subjects of angling interest.
