Title: Experimenta Typographica (I), Lectura sub Aqua. (Under Water Lecture.)
Description: [Amsterdam, J.F. Duwaer & Zn. 1944], light green stiff wrappers cut from a journal's matrix including blind relief images and texts; First edition; printed in 200 numbered copies in over 20 different fonts in black and red [by J. F. Duwaer & Zn., after the design and in the typography by Sandberg], copy no. 178; pp. 32. Fine and very fresh copy of this edition which was issued with different covers. This one being much more scarce than the sewn one and even so since with a pre-war matrix as cover - even more scarce than the more common matrix cover from the journal Het Parool after the war. We know of copies with texts as 'Von Ribbentrop arrested', or 'Kandinsky deceased'. Contrary to these the present copy was bound in a clearly pre-war matrix with a light green colour, meant for a paper's advertisement pages and featuring candy-store C.Jamin with an Easter chocolate egg, a Kodak camera, the RAI, an extensive advise from all-knowing radio-personality mrs Lotgering Hillebrand for good vinegar, etc.. The cover more common in use, with a big red number one, was an interim-solution applied during the German occupation. Stamp inside cover regarding the matrix-colour: 'spezial grün'. Brattinga and Petersen p.33-37, 198 (col.ills.), Purvis 8-9 (col.ill.), De Jong 258.
