It contains three papers by Lorentz, two by Einstein, and one by the mathematician Hermann Minkowski (1864-1909), to which a 5 pp. comment by Arnold Sommerfeld - not published before - is added. Minkowski "...is perhaps best known for his work in relativity, in which he showed in 1907 that his former student Albert Einstein's special theory of relativity (1905) could be understood geometrically as a theory of four-dimensional space-time, since known as the 'Minkowski spacetime'" (Wikipedia). Minkowski famously wrote "Von Stund an sollen Raum für sich und Zeit für sich völlig zu Schatten herabsinken und nur noch eine Art Union der beiden soll Selbständigkeit bewahren" (this paper). Albert Einstein was one of his students. Uncut. Spine split. Some light smudges to the rear wrapper; marginalia in light pencil, otherwise a very good copy.
