Original printed wrappers. = A seldom-seen, well-illustrated early monograph of the orobanche or broomrape (also spelled broom-rape) family of parasitic plants with colourful flowers, superficially resembling orchids. The bound volume has the plates in black and white, folded. The additional hand-coloured plates are loosely added, Written by the Swiss botanist and phycologist Jean Pierre Étienne Vaucher (1763-1841). The famous botanist Augustin Pyramus de Candolle was a pupil of Vaucher. The front wrapper lists G. Fick as printer/publisher; the title page, however, mentions Les Héritiers de J. J. Paschoud instead. Uncut. Text-leaves with some mostly marginal spotting; first hand-coloured plate irregularly toned and spotted, all other coloured plates only a bit toned or with light spotting - as often; otherwise good, complete.
