Author: Sars, G. O. Title: An account of the Crustacea of Norway, with short descriptions and figures of all the species. I. Amphipoda.
Description: Christiania and Copenhagen, A. Cammermeyer, 1890 [REPRINT Bergen and Oslo, Universitetsforlaget, 1966]. In two volumes 4to (26.0 x 18.0cm). 730 pp. [viii, 711; xiii]; 248 plates [1-240, suppl. I-VIIII]. Republisher's red wrappers with printed title mounted on front wrapper and spine. = George Ossian Sars (1837-1927) was the father of modern crustacean research. He described the Nordic fauna in 11 parts (not completed at his death), of which this is the first part and the only one devoted to the Amphipoda. Several new species are described in this work. The plates, by the author, are very clear. The original edition is rare; this good reprint is very uncommon. Uncut, therefore, some light wear to wrapper edges. Plate volume spine sunned. Otherwise a very good, complete and clean copy. Nissen ZBI, 3572 [pars].
