Speckled edges. = A rarely seen, well-illustrated monograph with many new taxa, written by the German invertebrate zoologist and Protista specialist David Rüst (1831-1916). He "... published 10 papers on radiolarians. Although he was not the first to describe Mesozoic radiolarians, he was certainly the most prolific describing over 900 new species of fossil radiolarians from Mesozoic and even Palaeozoic rocks from Europe and North America." (Ferwen). Published as part the famous German palaeontographical series, Palaeontographica, this being from volume 38. Provenance: with the small stamp of the library of the Dutch geologist G. A. F. Molengraaff on the front free endpaper recto. Small, Dutch bookbinder's label on the front pastedown. A very good, clean and well-bound copy.
