Description: London, The Linnean Society, 1886-1888. In three parts. Large 4to (29.5 x 23.0 cm). [ii], 248 pp.; 24 fine text engravings, 30 finely lithographed plates. Original, near uniform printed wrappers. = An excellent monograph - actually the first of such, by the British invertebrate zoologist Thomas Davidson (1817-1885. Davidson died before publication, and the work was completed by the British zoologist and marine biologist, Agnes Crane (1852-1932). Published in the Society's Transactions, being volume IV(I), IV(II) and IV(III) of the Series II, Zoology. Stamps of the Royal Society of New South Wales and "Presented by the Linnean Society" on all three front wrappers. The R.S.N. also next to the drophead titles, and in a much smaller version in a few plate fore margins. Spine covers abraded, first front wrapper detached; otherwise a very good, clean and complete copy. Nissen ZBI, 1048.
