Speckled edges. original printed wrappers bound in. = Early monograph, written by the Belgian palaeontologist Laurent Guillaume de Koninck (1809-1887) on brachiopods with a long list of previously published works on fossil Productus and related taxa, and with a table enumerating the taxa divided according to the geological period in which they occurred. The plates show well-preserved specimens. This work should not be confused with a very similar-titled work by De Koninck, viz. Monographie du genre Productus, which was published in the same year in an octavo format, in the Mémoires of the Société royal des Sciences de Liége. A second part in this series was not published until 1873. It deals with other groups. Bookplate of the Harvard College Library, with an acquisition date of 11 May, 1850 mounted on the front pastedown. A stamp of the American malacologist Richard Irwin Johnson (1925-2020) on the bookplate, front wrapper and in the top margin of the title page. A very good copy. Nissen ZBI, 2293.
