Gilt title on the spine. = Dedication copy. Signed by the first author, to Alexander Agassiz, and with Agassiz's blindstamp, and dated circular stamp (Oct. 1868). Later of William Clench, and Richard Johnson. Bound in the rear are three more papers by the British malacologist Albany Hanckock (1806-1873), not co-authored by Denis Embleton (1810-1900), but also published in the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society viz., On the organization of the Brachiopoda (1858; 79 pp., 15 lithographed plates); and two papers published in the Transactions of the Linnean Society, viz., On the structure and homologies of the renal organ in the nudibranchiate Mollusca (1852; 20 pp.; 6 plates); and On the anatomy of Doridopsis, a genus of nudibranchiate Mollusca (1865; 19 pp., 6 plates). The last two 'Linnean' publications are very uncommon. Fore edges uncut. Boards with the usual shelf-wear; otherwise, a very good, clean copy.
