These volumes were edited by the French malacologist Sauveur Abel Aubert Petit de la Saussaye (1792-1870). After a two years gap, Hippolyte Grosse and Henri Fischer continued the magazine with a second series, but all were numbered consecutively as well. With many contributions by the most important conchologists and malacologists of its time. Includes the descriptions and illustrations of many new species. The plates are plain, not coloured. Uncut. As published. The first two plate sections (1850, and 1851) have the wrappers dated, the last two are not dated.
