Original printed wrappers. = Rare publication on the ascent of the Swiss (later American) palaeontologist Louis Agassiz on "Jungfrauhorn" in the Alps, written by his friend and colleague palaeontologist Pierre Jean Édouard Desor (1811-1882), who is mainly known for his fine monographs on fossil Echinodermata. This is the first German edition, translated from the French. On the rear wrapper an advertisement for Desor's translation "mit Anmerkungen und Berichtigungen versehen von Dr. L. Agassiz", of Sowerby's Mineral Conchology. Paper repair to wrapper's edges, slightly foxed throughout, the nice map, however, clean.
