Original quarter linen over printed boards. = A seldom-seen, well-illustrated part, alternatively titled Erste Abteilung: Texte Band 9, but not just a text volume as it includes many fine illustrations of plants and of animal bones, all drawn by Goethe himself, and many not published before. This includes two text figures, one being a page-sized schematic set of drawing showing the early ontogeny of gastropod shells. Cancelled stamps on title page verso, some discolouring and abrasion to part of the spine, otherwise a very good, clean copy.
