Original printed wrappers. = First edition of the first of Mendel's meteorological papers published in the Verhandlungen des naturforschenden Vereines in Brünn, Band I. Rare, like all Mendel's works. "Mendel began his meteorological studies in 1856 and was soon recognized as the only authority on this subject in Moravia" (DSB). "Mendel’s “meteorological work was well known and highly regarded during his lifetime, but is now almost forgotten. By contrast, his work with peas, to which he devoted only eight years, was ignored during his lifetime, but is now highly regarded” (Corcos & Monaghan). Uncut. Wrappers a bit soiled, chipped at spine sides, and detached. Spine cover perished, gatherings loose. Stamp on plate and chart versos, some rather vague toning. otherwise a good copy.
