Description: London, Longmans, Green, and Co., 1877. Folio. Four pp.; 12 double-sized maps and two unnumbered page-sized maps. Publisher's full, embossed cloth with gilt title on the front board. Bevelled edges. = Although published in 1877, the maps (drawn by the author) shows the skies as if they would appear to an observer in 1880. Richard Anthony Proctor (1837-1888) was a British astronomer "best remembered for having produced one of the earliest maps of Mars. ... The crater Proctor on Mars is named after him" (Wikipedia). Inscribed on the front free endpaper recto (dated March 17, 1924). Boards a bit worn, more so at the edges. Otherwise a very good, clean copy.
