Contemporary pebbled half cloth over marbled boards. Spine with gilt title. = A seldom-seen work jointly written by two of the greatest South American orchid experts. Schlechter, however, died before the work was published and his portrait and facsimile autograph are added. Published in the Archivos de Botanica do Estado de S. Paolo, vol. I, together with several other papers written or coauthored by Hoehne. The orchid work entirely bilingual, Portuguese and German, and including new species. The plates, by Hoehne, are excellent. Those in colour show particularly fine species. The title on the spine is of the journal. Vague stamp on general title page; bindings a bit weak; last leaf (not belonging to the orchid paper) chipped in the lower margin. Otherwise a very good, unmarked copy.
