Original printed wrappers. = Rare monograph on the terrestrial and fresh water fauna of the Italian Aegean islands, which are Greek both today and in the past, but under Italian rule between 1912 and 1945. It deals with mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, molluscs (at least one new species and detailed descriptions and illustrations of several others), Odonata, Coleoptera, Amphipoda, etc., etc. The Italian naturalist Alessandro Gighi (1875-1970) acted as chief editor. In the rear is a 60 pp. general review by Ghigi, including notes on cave dwelling species, ecology, etc. The islands are listed as Rodi, Simi, Piscopi, Nisiro, Coo, Lero, Calimno, Lipso and Patmo. Currently known as Rhodos, Symi, Tilos, Nisyros, Kos, Leros, Kalymnos, Lipsi and Patmos. Uncut. This is the complete Archivo Zoologico Italiano XIII(1-2). Wrappers partly toned, otherwise a very good, clean copy.
