Stechow wrote about 40 scientific papers and described numerous new genera and species. From 1905 to 1937, Stechow's worked at the Zoologische Staatssammlung in Munich, first as a volunteer research assistant. Since 1927 as an assistant, then as conservator and from 1937 as a department manager. His research trips took him to the Mediterranean region, the West Indies and California. From there he brought many hydrozoans back to Munich. Today, this collection houses over 1000 specimens preserved in ethanol and several thousand micro-preparations, among which are numerous type specimens (cf. Wikipedia). Slight toning to wrapper edges, otherwise an excellent, clean and unmarked copy.
