Title: Brachiopoda from the Bokkeveld Beds [AND] Mollusca from the Bokkefeld Beds [AND] New fossils from the Bokkeveld Beds [AND] The Cretaceous Fauna of Pondoland.
Description: [Cape Town], Trustees of the South African Museum, 1903-1908. 8vo (24.1 x 16.5 cm). 171 pp. [35; 34; 26; 76]; 21 [4; 3; 2; 12] lithographed plates. Contemporary dark green pebbled half cloth over marbled boards. Spine with gilt ornamental lines and gilt title. = A combination of three papers, all with new molluscs, by the British - later Indian - palaeontologist Frederick Richard Cowper Reed (1869-1946); and a single, larger, paper by his contemporary colleague and friend, Henry Woods (1869-1952) on the Pondoland Cretaceous. This is the complete volume 4 of the Museum's Annals, containing two more - smaller - papers on Bokkeveld (Lower Devonian) invertebrates (trilobites and foraminifera), as well as several other papers on - mainly - Mesozoic and Palaeozoic zoology and botany. The Bokkeveld material is poor to fairly well-preserved; the Pondoland material is in a much better state and shows a rich, diverse fauna. Cancelled stamp on title; otherwise very good, clean.
