Title: Investigations on beavers. Volume I - VII. [All published].
Description: Berne, Brain Anatomy Institute, 1983. Seven volumes in seven. Large 8vo (25.34 x 17.5 cm). Near uniform pictorial softcovers. = The most comprensive series on the anatomy, zoology, phylogeny, behaviour, ethology, habitats, population dynamics, etc., etc. of the members of the genus Castor. It includes facsimile editions of some rare and important early studies ("Classic works on beavers"), such as Johannes Biurberg's "Castor breviter delineatus" (1687) in volume II, J. Franco's "Castorologica explicans (1685)" in volume III, Christoph Gottwaldt's "Bemerkungen über den Biber" (1782), and a paper by E. Caprotti on the beaver in oriental culture, referring to several early (renaissance) papers, with facsimile illustrations. Volumes VI-VII contain all-important bibliographies of works on beavers published between the years 1001-1986. Published as follows: Volume I (1983) 113 pp.; II (1984) 151, 81 pp.; III (1984) 8, 224 pp.; IV (1985) 172 pp.; V (1986) 160 pp.; VI (1988) 196 pp; VII 1988) 142 pp. The covers are identical except for the volume numbers and front cover illustrations. A few rear blank covers with some very light staining, otherwise a fine, clean, unmarked set. Complete sets are very uncommon, especially in this state.
