Spine with gilt lines and title. = The second edition, which was expanded and updated compared to the 1905 first, but has only three plates, whereas the first had ten. Uncut. Provenance: Inscribed and dated ("London, April 1939") by a former owner, the Indian entomologist Samarendra Nath Maulik (1881-1950) in the top margin of the title page. Maulik himself contributed to the Fauna of British India series, being the author of several parts on Coleoptera. Library stamp on front free endpaper verso, label on spine foot, otherwise a very good, clean copy.
