Floral-patterned endpapers. = The well-illustrated narrative, by the expedition leader, Max Weber, of the most important Dutch oceanographic expedition. The scientific parts were published up to no. 148 (1986) and includes zoological, botanical, geological and oceanographical monographs of the most interesting and most complex marine life systems in the world's largest archipelago, which forms part of the coral-triangle, the richest ecosystem in the world. This is the introduction, with many illustrations, a map of the itinerary and stations, and a list of dredging stations (Liste des stations de la campagne scientifique du "Siboga" revisée par le commanant du "Siboga" M.-G. F. Tydeman, captaine de frégate) with notes on the depth, sediment, and chief contents. The original printed front wrapper is included. The very large map with a few, marginal spots, otherwise a very good, clean copy. Rare in this good condition.
