Printed, partially hand-coloured plate. = A fine plate from a rare and interesting work by the German painter, engraver, and naturalist Johann Daniel Meyer (1713-1752). It depicts the skeleton of an Asian elephant (Elephas maximus). The plate in very good condition. French translation added in a neat old hand, very short tear in the lower margin, otherwise very good. Anker, 338; Nissen IVB, 630.
