Title: Études sur la flore et la végétation du Sahara central.
Description: Alger, Mémoires de la Société d'histoire naturelle de l'Afrique du Nord, 1933. Three parts in two. 8vo. 433 [272,161] pp., 36 photographic plates, two unnumbered (one folded and tinted) maps. Original near uniform printed wrappers. = A well-illustrated monograph on the plants and vegetation of poorly explored regions in the central Sahara desert, collected during the Mission scientifique du Hoggar in 1928. Written by the French botanist René Charles Joseph Ernest Maire (1878-1949). "His magnum opus was the Flore de l'Afrique du Nord, a 16-volume work published posthumously in 1953". No doubt it was partly based upon this seldom-seen work. Included (poart II) is a botanical vocabulary in the Tamasheq (Tuareg) language. Small stamp on front cover and title page of the combined parts I-II, otherwise a very good, clean set.
