Original printed wrappers. = A very good historical survey of the eruptions, lava streams, and pyroclastic flows from mount Vesuvius between the 16th and mid-nineteenth century, with an emphasis on the extensive eruption of 1631, perhaps the largest since 79 AD. Henri Sébastien Le Hon (or Lehon) (1809-1872) was a Belgian palaeontologist, navy officer, and marine artist. Probably there is another edition published by Hayez. Rare in any event. Uncut.
