Spine with gilt title. = An interesting novel approach of geology: the paleontologist and malacologist Angelo Heilprin (1853-1907) discusses the fossils found in the cobbles and stones of which the buildings and roads in the town of Philadelphia were made. Also, a more traditional discourse on the geology of southern Pennsylvania and adjacent western New Jersey is given. Two plates show mainly fossil molluscs. Some light spotting to title, otherwise a very good clean, unmarked copy with mint binding, which is unusual.
