Speckled edges. = One of the first works on carbon-hydrates, now the most important mineral in the world, being our feul and basis for plastics, etc. etc. Hardly aware of its future economic and technological importance, Isidore Huguenet describes its origin and early use. Inscribed by the author on the half-title, a dedication to a certain Mr Gilbert. Bookplate of the Lorainer industrialist Eugène Pougnet (1847-1892) on the front paste-down, light, scattered spotting, otherwise a very good, clean copy.
