The author, Eugène Penard (1855-1954) was a Swiss biologist and pioneer in systematics of the amoebae (Wikipedia). The half title verso lists12 other works by Penard. Pictorial bookplate on the front pastedown, edges a bit worn, pages lightly age-toned, as usual. A very good copy of this rare and important work. Not in Nissen.
