Description: Cambridge, MA, The Museum of Comparative Zoölogy, 1871. 4to. 93 pp., one double paged coloured map of the United States east coast, and in more detail the waters off Long Island and New Jersey, and the Florida Strait, and eight fine lithographed plates. Disbound. = A finely illustrated work on deep-sea corals, collected between 1867-1869 by the Uinited States Coast Survey steamers Corwin and Bibb. Several species are new or never illustrated before. The last plate is actually another map of the Florida Strait. Published as the Museum's Illustrated Catalogue IV. The large map is not always present. From the Crerar library with stamps on the plate verso but not shining through; last plate detached, otherwise a very good copy.
