Title (to the series), half-title, title (to the work), viii, 342 pp., eight plates with profiles (several large, folded, three in full colour). Contemporary quarter cloth over marbled boards. Spine with old hand-written label. = This work forms an early part of a series on the geology of Switzerland in which the individual parts deal with one or two cantons and contain an extensive description of the formations that are present. This work comes with many profiles, and lists of fossils (mainly molluscs) encountered in formations dating from the Jurassic to the middle Teriary. The main title (quoted above)calls for two maps but these are not included. The title page to the work further states, after Description...Jura Vaudois et Neuchatelois: "...et quelques districts adjacents de Jura Français et de la plaine Suisse compris dans les feuilles VI, XI, et XVI de l'Atlas Fédéral". Apparently atlasses were published separately. Old vague stamps on the first title and half-title, endpapers a bit spotted, boards a bit soiled, otherwise a good copy.
